Items that cannot be shipped from Japan by air (aerosols, lithium batteries, perfume, etc.) and items shipped only under conditions. Check before you buy.
Not allowed by air
Aviation law and postal regulations prohibit the following on EMS, airmail, and DHL (some are prohibited by surface mail as well).
- Aerosols and gas products (hair spray, insecticide, lighters, gas cartridges)
- Flammable liquids (nail polish remover, bulk perfume/cologne, high-proof alcohol)
- Standalone lithium batteries and power banks
- Fireworks and other pyrotechnics
- Strong magnets (e.g., bare speakers)
Prohibited by law
- Cash, checks, and negotiable securities
- Narcotics and unauthorized export of prescription drugs
- Firearms, swords, and weapons (replicas may also be restricted)
- Counterfeit and pirated goods
- CITES-regulated items (ivory, tortoiseshell, etc.)

| Food | Sealed retail products only. Meat and fresh food are banned by many countries |
